Calling All Youth
Wonder what a five-dollar bill can get you these days? Last time AMHA checked, 5 dollars could get you a cheeseburger meal at the local burger place. Why not invest five bucks into something that's sure to satisfy? Sure, AMHA may not offer fries, but we do offer some pretty cool contests, leadership opportunities and the chance to learn more about the American Miniature Horse. So what are you waiting for? Send in your 5 dollar AMHA Youth Membership today and catch up, not ketchup, on all the fun! Toy not included.
Secure Payment All youth who send their membership application (new or renewal) in before May 31, 2001 will be placed into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the AMHA Country Store.
AMHA Youth Poetry Contest
Does your Miniature Horse pal inspire prose in you? Whether you've got a notebook full of Miniature Horse verse or just felt obliged to jot one down, AMHA wants to see it. If you inspire us with your poetry you could win a cool AMHA cap and get your poem published in the Youth Views section of an upcoming issue of Miniature Horse World. There is no entry fee and multiple submissions are welcome. The contest is only open to current AMHA Youth Members. Mail your submissions to AMHA before May 31, 2001 or email them to Youth@amha.org.
Got Candids?
If you've got candid photos of your Miniature Horse pals, send them in. AMHA is currently seeking your crazy candids of Miniature Horses and their pals for use in their new caption contest. All pictures submitted remain property of AMHA. If all goes as planned, AMHA Youth Members can try their luck at providing a caption for a different photo in each MHW issue.
Miniature Miscellany
Consider this your area for Miniature Horse randomness. If it has to do with Miniature Horses, be it clever license plates, bumper stickers, zany Miniature Horse names, markings, weird Miniature Horse habits, whatever...AMHA wants to post it here. Send your Miniature Miscellany in today. Who knows, you might just see it in the next MHW issue or on the youth site!
AMHA Youth Club Chatter
Welcome to Youth Club Chatter. Make sure to check here for helpful tips and features submitted by AMHA-approved Miniature Horse Clubs from around the world. In each issue learn what programs and activities other groups are building to encourage youth participation and where to look for the resources to administer them.
Does your club have a unique program or fundraiser? Share your ideas with other AMHA Miniature Horse Clubs by submitting them to AMHA today.
Youth Award of Excellence Program
AMHA is now accepting nominations for the Youth Award of Excellence. The award recognizes AMHA Youth who are using their Miniature Horse(s) to make an impact in public or community services (nursing homes, day cares, etc.) or who are promoting Miniature Horses in an unusual or outstanding way (special needs programs, television programs, etc.)
Individuals can nominate AMHA Youth Members by submitting a brief biography on the youth and their outstanding merit in the above categories. Nominations will be reviewed and award recipients determined by the AMHA Youth Committee. Each recipient will receive a certificate of merit and will be recognized in Miniature Horse World, the AMHA Youth Online Newsletter and a hometown press release.

THANK YOU!!!
For those of you that donated to the AMHA Youth we
know that you well recognize; the youth of any organization is its future
life-blood.
Donate Now-
Secure Donations! Thank
you!
Your contribution was important to our organization in many
ways. The projects that the Youth Committee designed this year required the
assistance of many to see them through to fruition. Whether you: donated a
computer, spent countless hours on the Youth Directory, were a sponsor of a
Youth class or one of our many projects, volunteered to be a Team Advisor, sent
money to help build the Scholarship Fund, helped with the Scholarship program
itself, gave prizes for the Team Tournament, donated cash for Team T-Shirts or
Jackets, provided an item for the Silent Auction, and/or were a successful
bidder on an item, helped monitor the Youth Room or Art Contest, provided
horses, handlers, or help for the Youth Judging Contest, helped distribute Team
prizes, were a successful bidder at the Team Calcutta, supported the fun events
of scavenging and the parties, or lent your support, help, and/or expertise to
any of the above, YOU ARE TO BE COMMENDED!
The mission was accomplished
and successful! "Our kids" benefited not only through the promotion of healthy
competition, but also in the development of social skills through the fun
activities provided.
The programs and projects mentioned above are just
some of the ways we foster interest for the youth in the American Miniature
Horse. Hopefully, we will be able to continue these and other youth-oriented
projects for our AMHA Youth, not only at Nationals, but also throughout the
year on the Regional and local club level. More importantly, we hope that we
can count on YOUR support again!
Again we extend our many THANKS for
your contribution to the AMHA Youth Program. We can also tell you that our
Youth appreciate it as well. Should you wish to donate for the 2001 projects
please contact the AMHA and they can see that you get one of our forms for
donating.
Sincerely,
AMHA Youth Committee
Cheryl Belcher
